‘Cookson reef’ biota from Cookson, Oklahoma

Coral

This head of coral is mostly entire and has an inverted conical shape.

Broken Coral

This section of coral has broken away from the rest of its form, exposing the intricate internal structures of the coral polyps.

Hash Plates

This specimen contains the fossils of many marine species, most notably a few-well preserved brachipod shells near its narrow end as well as a few of the spines that would have been attached to their shells in life.

This plate displays the fossil leaf and stem impressions of at least two species of seed ferns.

Preserved here are several small flattened stem segments of the giant arborescent (tree-like) horsetail Calamites.

Annularia is the form taxon assigned to the fossil leaves of the giant arborescent horsetail Calamites.
